Why Is Nudity So Important In My Art?

Because nudity expresses human energy and life, mundane yet controversial, simultaneously natural and unnatural.

My artwork is expressive and perhaps even romantic, with stories told by nude females in a whirlwind destined to challenge Adam who was told to feel free to eat from any tree in the Garden of Eden.

The intention of my females is to transition from a flat image into a deep eruption of color fused in compositions that swing between active and resting forms. Being self-taught, the anatomical study is the stage I most enjoy during the research of each artwork because it merges in connection with the magical aspects of the real world that hide the mystery of the ‘I know", while unifying the encounter with the ‘I don't know".

Fine Art

I use earthy and atmospheric tones, as well as soft and cool-toned hues, either way in translucent, ethereal layers of acrylic colors, paper, crayons, and markers on a medium-large-scale canvas. I fancy incorporating organic shapes and highly textured blends into my abstract work, followed by delicate figurative lines that are integrated into frames of splattered, dripped, and brushed paint.

My creative process evolves in 3 phases and it may sound simple or mechanical but each phase has its' different focus and energy. The phases have no time frame and each one exists aloof from the moment the one passes into the next one.

The Beginning unveils to me the road to freedom, which is the phase with a creative and open-minded approach to working composition with any available mix-media.

The Exploring phase perpetuates a feeling of faith that the image will move the gazer into a meaningful experience whether it be emotional, intellectual, physical, or even mystical grasp.

The Completion phase allows me the serenity to fall in love with the avatar set in motion.

My work sparks from the lived experiences of the different cultures that have shaped me.

Part of was my college years in that rather distinct New Orleans of the '70s. I later proceed to an enriching relocation of 15 years in the isolated rainforest jungle of Costa Rica.

Along the line, I adventured contrasting environments and lived 27 years in my beloved Sweden, where I built my own little family. Sometime during those decades, I took advantage of the geographic proximity and swung for a 1 year sabbatical to the spectacular medieval town of Tallinn, Estonia.

After traveling all it was possible but certainly, never enough, I'm stationed today in the charming village of Santa Ana in the awesome central valley of Costa Rica

My paintings are held in private collections in the USA, Costa Rica, Continental Europe, and Scandinavia. Old and recent exhibitions have taken place in Viken, Madrid, Helsingborg, Copenhagen, and Florence.

...and I get a kick from that moment where I inspired the viewer and we experience a playful feeling of shared understanding.
